Included Utilities

EDS Utilities

Additional EDS applications for creating lists and reports from project data, bulk creation and editing of drawings, and customisation.

Utility Programs

Ebase

Function

Ebase is the database engine at the heart of all data-centric operations for EDS circuit diagrams — Bill of Materials, Wire Lists, Cable Lists, Label Lists, Cross Reference Reports, Project Database links, Warnings Reports, Revision Reports, and more.

Typical Users

Users creating circuit diagrams with EDS will almost always use Ebase to produce circuit information reports (e.g. materials lists or connection lists) or to import, export, or link tabular circuit data to their project drawings.

Features

  • Project Management and Revision tracking — including revision comparison reports, project drawing index list, and automated warnings summary.
  • Automated wire interconnection, cable, and conductor/core lists; wire numbering/removal and wire label/ferrule lists.
  • Automated bill of materials and quantity summary; relay contact/coil and tag name duplication cross-referencing reports.
  • Report and drawing navigation — jump from a warning or report item directly to the relevant drawing.
  • Project-wide global editor for tags, wires, terminals, and specifications via your own database or spreadsheet — find and replace across multiple sheets simultaneously.

Protogen

Function

Protogen provides database-controlled mass production of repetitive diagrams — loop diagrams, motor control cells, 1-line diagrams, and more.

Typical Users

Any Elecdes user with repetitive drawing requirements. Protogen uses template drawings and a user-defined database to mass-produce similar diagrams with variance in tags, wire numbers, and specifications.

Features

  • Mass-produce repetitive diagrams (loops, motor control cells, switchgear schemes, panel layouts) from template drawings and a user-defined database.
  • Single or multi-level relational databases and diagram structures; user-specified database and diagram structure.
  • Mathematical relationships and macro data use — e.g. use a single wire number with +1/+2 to wire a circuit, or a part number to fill all specification attributes on a device.
  • Elecdes and Ebase compatible intelligent diagrams produced; automated inclusion to your Ebase project.
  • A CAD package is only required for template/prototype creation.

Database Editor

Function

DBEdit is a simple row and column editor for creating and maintaining DBASE compatible databases. All standard EDS reports are saved in this format.

Typical Users

EDS reports, catalogs, and other tabular data are stored in DBF file format (Dbase 3/4). Any EDS product user will use DBEdit to browse and edit these files.

Features

  • Edit Elecdes database files, catalog parts lists, BOMs, and EDS reports with familiar cut/paste keystrokes.
  • Find and replace, increment/sequential functions, and sort functions.
  • Export to Text and CSV formats.

Batch Printer

Function

Batch Printer is designed specifically for viewing and printing large sets of Electrical/Instrumentation 2D diagrams — hands free.

Typical Users

EDS circuit diagram modules use DWG file format. If creating, viewing, or printing 2D circuit diagrams from EDS, this free tool will be useful.

Features

  • Open and view electrical circuit diagrams in one second — fast zoom and pan tools included.
  • Print batches of electrical circuit diagrams hands-free with bulk print option settings.
  • No AutoCAD licence required on your PC.

Licence Manager

Function

Licence Manager is the security module for the EDS products.

Typical Users

All EDS customers use the Licence Manager.

Features

  • Multiple simultaneous users and mixed EDS modules on a single licence; multiple licence HUBs on a network with HUB sharing.
  • LAN and UNC/WAN capable with licence portability.
  • Supports limited product evaluations.
